Find the right therapy for you…
-Individual therapy
-Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)
Sooner or later, each of us encounters challenges that can feel overwhelming. Work, relationships, finances, parenting — each of these can demand more than we feel able to give. During these times, therapy can offer meaningful support and lasting change.
My Approach
I use an integrative approach that blends interpersonal, cognitive, and trauma-informed theories. This means our work will focus not only on your thoughts and behaviors, but also on the emotional and relational patterns that shape your experiences. Cognitive techniques help identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns; interpersonal methods illuminate how you connect with others; and trauma-informed principles ensure that our work unfolds with sensitivity to your nervous system, boundaries, and life history. Together, these frameworks create a balanced, compassionate, and flexible approach tailored to your unique needs.
Building Our Relationship
Therapy begins with establishing our relationship. Early sessions focus on getting to know you, including your history, current circumstances, and what brings you to therapy. Because our experiences are deeply shaped by the identities we hold, I will also invite conversation about your family and cultural background. I may share aspects of my own background as well, so that you have a clear sense of my perspective and approach.
Our Work Together
Together, we will use this foundation to identify your goals and create a framework for our work. Through a “one foot in, one foot out” approach, we’ll address both immediate concerns and long-standing patterns that may keep you feeling stuck. This process often involves exploring how past experiences influence present struggles, while learning to process and release painful or unacknowledged emotions.
With validation, insight, guidance, and humor, our sessions will support you in developing a more mindful and compassionate understanding of yourself. As you strengthen this inner foundation, we’ll work to extend those changes into your relationships, work, and daily life.
Because collaboration is essential to effective therapy, we will regularly check in about your experiences and progress to ensure that our work continues to meet your evolving needs.
Finding the right therapist is the key to making lasting change.
EMDR therapy can help you heal from single-event and complex trauma
-
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy approach designed to help people heal from distressing or traumatic experiences. It’s based on the idea that traumatic memories can become “stuck” in the brain, continuing to trigger emotional or physical reactions long after the event.
-
Similarly to exposure and response prevention work, during EMDR therapy, the therapist guides the client to recall aspects of a troubling memory while simultaneously engaging in bilateral stimulation, such as side-to-side eye movements, sounds, or tapping on your body. This process helps the brain reprocess the memory so that it becomes less emotionally charged and more integrated into the person’s overall life narrative.
-
EMDR is widely recognized as an effective, evidence-based treatment for trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and related issues, helping individuals reduce distress, gain new perspectives, and build emotional resilience.
Change is possible.
